Hi, so DVD happily accepted the files from BitVice, but the image is super-pixelated. The Quicktime movie, however, looks sharp. The resolution is dropping to 720 x 480 (correct? for a DVD),… is there a way to keep the image sharp?

Ok a little progress: I went from FCP to compressor directly and the output looks pretty good. Not quite as sharp as in FCP but not like it’s underwater anymore.

Now the problem seems to be DVD studio pro, won’t accept it— an encoding problem I think judging from the yellow status lights.

Thanks this is helpful. I still haven’t solved my issue yet. So tell me this,

My sequence in FCP is 1440 x 1080 (thought it was 1920 x 1080 but according to the FCP log, it is not), compressor: HVD, 1080i60, 48 KHz, 32-bit floating point. Its an crude animation made up entirely of still images. 2.5 minutes long.

I need a DVD to play on a standard DVD player.

Should I be exporting to compressor first or via Quicktime movie or quicktime conversion, and THEN Compressor? And then after that, to DVD Studio Pro? I learned to export via quicktime movie, and then directly to DVD Studio pro, but when I do this, my assets status light is yellow, which I read means then files haven’t been encoded. And, what settings should I be using? Should the ration be set to 16/9 or 4/3?

Is it possible to get a DVD with sharp images? I have so far only seen a dramatic drop in resolution, images look like they’re underwater.

Hi thank you for responding. I need the DVD to play on a normal non-computer DVD player. Why will it only play on a computer? What program/ settings should I use to get from FCP to DVD?

What I meant about compressor is that I can get files into compressor but when I “submit” them, I get error messages and exclamation points in yellow triangles. But I heard compressor makes the best quality.
