Hi Guys
I had trouble with a Blackmagic DVI Extender on a ATI Fire Pro 8800 GPU. I wasn`t able to use 50 Hz because I only had the chance to choose 30 Hz in the Catalyst control panel. I checked the EDID with an EDID Manager desgin by Extron with the result that the EDID seems to be really badly written. In established timing it says only – and I quote- Do not use. Normally it contains information for the GPU like which frequency and resolution are supported by the connected monitor in this case the DVI Extender.
To solve this problem i`ll use an EDID emulator design by eyevis.
Here are my question:
Have you ever checked the EDID with a tool like i did? I have the impression that the DVI Extender are able to transmit all the resolutions listed at the back of the device but if you are using a professinal GPU which reads the EDID correctly it doesn`t work properly. Because the EDID doesn`t contain all information the GPU needs.
Any expierences?
