Tried on my son’s PS3 and it worked perfectly. Tried it again on the Sony BDP-S360 and a vast improvement (occasional drop outs – approx 2 per minute and always at different points). Will now investigate the deck and updating firmware.

Well I’ve burnt another Blu-ray that is destined for the bin. There is surround sound coming out in between the numerous dropouts. The audio is truly apalling. Here are the settings I am using:

I will carry on hunting to see if anyone else has experienced this. Am I correct in thinking that I can try out all of these ‘features’ using a 4.7Mb disc. ie will results be identical when I burn a 25Mb Blu-ray disc?

I went back and tried again and the PRO encoder was available. I cannot explain why I saw the pop-up asking me if I wanted to purchase PRO??? I am re-rendering all of the files now as I rendered one, loaded it into DVDA and when I chose optimize I saw a tick rather than a recompress message.

Yes Rob you are correct. I don’t want to do anything fancy, just take footage from a Sony camcorder to a Sony NLE to a Sony Burner to Blu-ray (Sony). So to achieve this I need to pay Dolby Labs £100? I wonder if Sony receive a comission if I order it via the link from Vegas? Or am I being cynical?

I too have this problem. I see on one post that somebody recommends using Dolby Digital AC-3 Pro. Unfortunately this costs £100. I only want to reproduce what comes out of my video camera ie Sony HDr-SR10 —> Sony Vegas 8.0 —> Sony Architect 5.0 —> Sony Blu-ray. Did you find a work round?

I will try that after I have selected some HD downloaded through the software that came with the camera (Sony) as opposed to the new import from 8.0d. If that doesnt work I will do what you suggest.

Hi there,

You must excuse my lack of knowledge on many aspects of this subject. To be brief, I bought Vegas Movie Studio, started editing videos, had some sucess, upgraded to pro 8, upgraded video to HD and found that I needed Blu-Ray to progress. Then I was offered the download (8.0c) at the weekend. Great. Projects in AVCHD before I make the move to Blu-Ray. Put a HD project together and it crashes at around frame 148 when I render in AVCHD. I notice it crashes when the title starts to switch to the footage. When I remove the titles it crashes immediately. I do question my investment now but maybe somebody can push me gently in the right direction. I have also upgraded my computer system. I am sure I will get there eventually and make a useful contribution to these forums (I am a computer systems validation specialist and I used to design CG systems for the Commodore Amiga). So please anybody out there tell me where to start to solve this issue.
