Time is money and money is everything. NEVER mix and match anything when come to REAL working environment. Stay with one SOLID OS and one SOLID APP. You see alot of new cross platform these day. NEVER let that fools you. Those company only care for your money. I have to say pc is very solid these days, especial when come to work horse 3D rendering. When you needed help, someone is always on another line who been there/done that ordeal. If you are waiting for the tech, good luck with your business. Don’t rush yourself with new comers. They always give you problems. Individual users are totally B&W from a business stand point. Business don’t just upgrade their computer that easily. Money, Clients and Time are involve, investment wise.

I would recommend you buy a clone system from a refutalbe company. Don’t get the proprietary system. They make your uprade in hell while their tech is on vacation and you are stranded with you business. I don’t care if they claim their system is fast and reliable. Even with pc clone, most studio has their own onsite tech.

With $12,000, you can get the best system, rendering, graphicing, authoring and audioing…etc. It can handle C4D like a baby. C4D is rendering more faster and faster with excellent result.

I know this from first hand. I got friends who works at disney, sony, and studio pendulum. They recommend clone pc to me and I never regreted it.

They recomended pc with a intel xeon chip that has as hi cache as possible. With the spect I mention earlier, plus a 32/64bits backward compatable hardware.

Whatever system you chose, with that budget, don’t chose mac sys at all.

I’m a freelance. I travel alot and see many big cahoona studios. Most of them are pc oriented. If you don’t believe me ask someone whose in the industry.

There are unlimited specical effect plugs and apps available for pc.

I own both hi end mac and pc clone. mac being my backup purpose.

Keep this in mind: Reg. ECC ram is a must have.
CPU with higher cache is a must have.
GPU graphic card is a must have.
    SCSI/Raid is a must have.
    Fujitsu keyboard recommended.
    Mac 30 in. recommended.

Don’t over look anything or oh its works the same thing. Whats in your computer are your investment. Its good to know a little bit about computer. You can’t depend on the tech all the time.

I don’t trust dv tape either.

Last week I shot a wedding where the tape become drop.
The whole five minutes, was ruin! All the walking in ARE GONE, including the important Bride and her dad escort.

It was a disaster. I don’t trust any of them anymore.

Now I’m wating for the Bride and Groom to got back from their honeymoon to tell them the good and bad news. This beyond my control.

Yes, it does show the same result on other vtr or camcorder.
I guest it burn on the auctual tape alright.

But how come when fastforward or rewind or fast play, the text disappear? Oh, by the way, the footage was in HD.

I don’t understand it. Is there a trick somewhere that I wasn’t aware about?

Hopefully someone here had the same experience and find a way.

    Thanks for the replied.
