Not sure if you tried it, but boot up while holding the C key (with the Tiger disk in the drive) and then reinstall it – not sure if the information on your drive is lost. If you don’t care, do a clean install of Tiger. If you backed up your Panther drive then at least you can go back to that (I did not and wish I could go back!)
    Best of luck.

Tired but true. GM and Ford have done it your way. And they are now paying the price for that. And so is Microsoft for their poor track record on securing their OS. And Apple will too it they release a buggy version of FCP 5 – at a minimum they will not continue to get my business.
I have said my say and will let you have the last word if you so choose. I am not going down the road of name calling and insults. You may get away with that in your company and with your staff if they are willing to put up with it but not with me.

I guess I should be glad that Apple and MS don’t make cars!
When your clients pay you for a project on completion you would never say: I know this is not what I said it would be but this film/video/ tv ad is just a version 1 release I’ll be sending you updates at some unknown point.
So why is it okay for software companies to get away with it and so controversial to ask that they do the proper testing before they release it?

It is a remote possibility but dashboard does expose you to the possibility of malicious code being run on your machine. The following artilce explains it in more detail and a simple step you can take to protect yourself:

Considering that I have had spotlight problems, networking problems, safari problems, made my machine vulnerable to malicious code with dashboard, FCP preview problems etc. since installing Tiger, I think it is a pretty fair question Vincent. Others have had problems with QT too. While I appreciate that there are point 1 problems I expected more from Apple with Tiger. From what Walter said about NAB it sounds like they may have done a better job with FCP.

Given how Tiger has turned out, do you have any reason to belive that Apple will release a version of FCP that will have been properly tested and debugged?

My suggestion would be not to even bother with Tiger till they come out with the 10.4.1 update – there are just too many issues with spotlight, networking, safari and even FCP (like not being able to use my laptop LCD as a preview monitor any more) to make it worth while. I am sure that Apple will fix them but till then it is not worth it. If you feel you must, then the advice given about making a clone of your drive is a good one. I didn’t and regret it!
