Hmmm… I would hate to spend $600 for another piece of software and then find out that it’s not working either when I try to burn my project to DVD.

Do you know if it works nicely with the Sony DRX-510UL external DVD burner?

Yes, that’s a great idea. I went to Sony’s Web site and the download page for the trial version.
It states that the trial version:

* does not allow MP3, MPEG, or AC-3 files to be imported
* does not allow file preparing
* does not allow burning of externally prepared demo projects larger that 500MB

By “MPEG”, does that mean I can’t import already encoded MPEG-2 files?
“File preparing” – I can’t put together an entire project from scratch and then do a test burn?

Thanks for the tips; Yes, I went ahead and try to re-build my whole project from scratch, menu by menu and timeline by timeline (and do a test burn here and there between separate stages), everything was working fine until I hit timline 4 (out of 5 total);
When I try to import one of the subtitle scripts, I get hit with a pop-up dialogue box saying “Out of memory – Save and quite your project or you’ll lose everything… blah, blah, blah.”

So this is even before I get to try to burn the project.

Yes, I’ve spent great deal of detail in making sure all timelines has the same subtitle order for all the different languages, etc.
Everything is ‘by the books’.

What does the message “Out of memory” in general indicate?
Encore doesn’t have some kind of allocated memory thing you can adjust (like Photoshop), right?

I have no other programs running, I’m on XP Pro, 3 GH, and 1 Gigs of RAM.

I’m at a loss here…
