The set is filming 29.97 DF all around. That was our first guess, but doesn’t appear to be the problem. The timeline is also DF. The HD tapes are being captured from a Sony HDW-F500 deck downconverted. The SD tapes are DigiBeta captured from Sony DVW-A500 decks.

The decks exist in a Master Tape Room and patched into the edit bays.
The HD is drifting BEHIND the SD. We found this strange thinking that if the SD camera were using the cable into the deck on set, that would cause the SD to drift behind the HD. The opposite is happening.
The show is using a SAN Drive setup. I personally don’t know a lot about it.
We also tried dubbing an HD tape to DigiBeta and capturing that way, but again, it was happy with the other HD cameras and drifted from the SD cameras, so that won’t work.
Basic Question: Can you have a project with both HD and SD footage and have it sync up happily?
