You could have a 3d null object follow your designated course, then parent the motion of the particle emitter & the object to the null. To get the xyz position of the emitter to follow the null, set the emitter to be a light, then parent the light to the null object.

I’ve had good results with Panasonic’s HVX. But the number 1 thing that is going to make or break your greenscreen footage is going to be your lighting. If its not properly lit, its not going to matter what kind of camera you shot it on. But, like I said, I’ve had good results with the HVX.

Could be. I know whenever I use very large images and scale them down, etc., it inflates my render time.

What are your system specs? (processor, ram, etc.)

If you tell us a little about the animation in question – what effects are you using, are you scaling down very large images, etc. – it would help us narrow it down. Certain effects – some blurs, complex particle simulations, etc. – can cause the render time to increase a bunch. Its hard to say whats causing the heavy render times without knowing whats in the comp.

    We just started using drop.io

It’s got some great free features, and best of all – is easy to use for your clients. Check it out.

Could this be caused by the codec you are using to render out the footage?

I’d agree with Steve in saying that if you wanted to do this cheaper and faster and with minimal crew – you would probably want to shoot it, motion track the footage, and then create your cardboard animations in post. However – you’ll probably get a much more lifelife cardboard simulation if you use a 3D app to model and animate the cardboard, and then use AE for your compositing.

Looks to me like a bunch of particle effects…you’ve got your “sparks” that drift and fall, your “comets” that woosh down the screen…etc. Play around with CC Particle World and/or Trapcode’s Particular (if you have it.)

For the words – you could just create a particle system with alot of particles falling, and then use the layer above it as a “Track Matte” to act like a big stencil over that layer.
