also, when I fire my mac up it is telling me that my Kona card is running below maximum supporting speed… should I take my sonnet card out of slot 4… I just switched them yesterday… my Kona card was working fine before when I had it in slot 4… and had no sonnet card.

    sounds like a conflict?…

Just to add… just installed a sonnet PCIe 4 port SATA card yesterday in my machine (slot 4) and moved my Kona card down to slot 2… tried opening a new project… importing a clip into FCP 6 and still have the same video lag… it’s playing back fine in FCP but my Kona card gets further and further behind as it plays.

so I’m guessing DVD studio pro is the culprit… very strange… I guess I should look at other software… or any options in filters etc.

So am I to assume that DVD studio Pro would be the culprit then?

That’s strange that nobody else has ever really noticed this before. I guess I should look at investing in one of the programs you mentioned… was it Reel DVD or Nero?

    Sorry boys…

Exporting from 720p24 timeline to compressor…

Using latest version of FCP 5… using compressor’s best quality 60 min encode 16×9…

Not changing any bitrate settings… not adding any filters etc…just leaving as is…

Then once the Mpeg2 is made I import into DVD studio Pro and build my DVD project.

When I play the DVD I notice everything is very rough… ie you can see jagged edges on all curved lines.

Hope this helps you help me…

problem is that I can’t even get the QT movie to my desktop… it stops half way thru. Also, in compressor it gets about halfway thru and quits.

I think it may be a FCP problem. I have probs with this unit always crashing. It’s a quad G5… runs poorly… my dual G5 has no problems doing this and I only have 3 GB RAM

Then when I do my online, do I just reconnect to the 720p media that is on another drive?

That is something I am trying to convince the director to do.

So the footage won’t come across as 23.98 native frame rate then I’m guessing.

I thought about just giving it to him as native 720p as it won’t be that much bigger… but I’m intrigued by the media manager to copy to DV… how exactly do I do that?

    Cheers
