I much prefer plugins myself, however Mercalli V2 lacks 2.7k and 4k support which is kind of a deal breaker for me.

Any thoughts on Q1?

I have read them all, so your now suggesting that I can’t mix all I want.

So if I have 30 and 60fps I should render at 30fps? And I should avoid 24/48fps if rendering at 30fps?

[John Rofrano] “It will “work” but probably not be smooth depending on your computer. You’re asking Vegas Pro to transcode the video on the fly and it will never be smooth. The footage that matches the project will be smooth and the footage that doesn’t will not.

I would suggest you be prepared to transcode your non-1080p footage to 1080p. If you are looking to reframe the 4K footage, then do your reframing in a separate project, render to 1080p, and then drop that into your main project fro editing. It will be a much smoother experience.

BTW, Sony recommends at least 8-Cores and 16GB memory for 4K editing. Is your computer up to the task?

Any suggestions for getting slow-motion to work? The way I see it, I can only slow down until frame rate matches the project. With 120fps max, my project can either be 30fps or 60fps (the latter only being x2 slow motion). Is my only option a more expensive camera, that can shoot say 240fps?

Pc is only a hex core with 16gb ram, but may upgrade if necessary.

Thanks for the reply Dave.

I have searched all other related threads but none mention the use of XDCAM EX for upload to YouTube.

Render time is very important to me and so using XDCAM EX would be useful with it being 3x faster.

I know MainConcept Internet HD is the recommended template and the bitrate can be increased but as I’ve said above, render speed is an important factor.

Any advise on the differences between the 2 templates or any negatives as to why I shouldn’t use XDCAM EX, excluding the higher bitrate.

Going by that table I linked to earlier it supports GPU acceleration with the advantage of being a much newer card. Though I have never used XDCAM EX, is it comparable to MainConcept apart from higher/fixed bitrate? Video is for YouTube only.
