    Thanks Alex

Sounds logical to add it at the controller or driver level.

    Hi Alex

You basically just confirmed it’s the right way to go. Doing multiclips in FCP with 10 cameras in ProRess 422HQ. Essentially the workflow would be: edit one song at a time (copying the footage over to SSD Array for that particular track) and then rendering out edit as .mov. The theory seems to be sound, as the Array can read at 700MB’s plus – so have the bandwidth to do it. I was just at bit concerned about the reports of SSD’s degrading due to the Mac OSX not having the TRIM facility. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Thanks Gary

I really didn’t explain myself well. OK, the timecode burn in (I assume on the way in), I can therefore ref that with timecode received via RS422 to determine whether I have to implement the use of timecode offsets or not? This is what I meant by calibrating, not synchronizing. Apologies for my confusion.

Is this the best way to calibrate the VTR with my system?

    Many Thanks

    Apologies, I meant Calibrate.

    Thankyou for your support.

I have a quick question with regards to your reply.

I am indeed wanting to downconvert from 1080i to 625i and I now understand that changing the primary format to 625 will automatically downconvert; but why do I need to set the secondary format to my native 1080i?

    Many thanks

That is exactly what I needed to know. Genius!

Thank God this forum exists, and is visited by such Gurus as your goodself.

    Jeremy

Thanks for that. I understand the process of feeding the signal to a Digi Deck, but initially I want to downconvert into FCP Capture, and not capture to Digibeta straight away.

    How do I do that?

    Thanks

    Simon

  • Thankyou all so much for your advice. My conclusion is that I need a working knowledge of AE and Shake to lift my game and catch the gigs by having a wider breadth of skills and abilities.

    Thanks again all

    OK

Apologies, but I’m still slightly confused.

    >Place FieldsKit in a sequence, add noise. Call this sequence, sequence 1.
    >Put sequence 1 into sequence 2. Apply FieldsKit to Sequence 1 inside of Sequence 2. Then apply Twixtor on top of FieldsKit (on Seq 1 inside of Seq 2).
    >Does this help?

Nest the sequence (source footage and noise)? Then take that nest and place it in a new sequence? Is that correct?

How do you apply the fieldkit to the nest inside of another sequence? Is it -View- Sequence- from the FCP menu.?

Why do you need 2 sequences, when the sequence has already been nested?

What I have done so far is: source clip and noise into sequence at correct length. Nested that sequence. Choose -View -Sequence- from the Menu to show me the sequence in the viewer and applied Fields Kit and then Twixtor.

    Is that OK

    Thanks
