Ours is a macpro also.
What I meant was are you running OSX Server ?
We have a macpro running osx server. setup is easy for vpn through the admin app.
on the non osx server side I think you’l be installing something extra such as below.
https://www.macserve.org.uk/projects/ivpn/
lemme know if you need any more help

Robin I do see your point and BM seem to have been caught out by some bugs that delayed the release but then again I have never been given a “free” watch 🙂
I was told that the Intensity as it does not support 10bit cannot do DPX with MediaExpress2 (ME2)
Though when I switch down to PAL ME2 can do DPX playback capture :-/
So why cannot it do 1080 DPX playback? Chips just not powerful enough ?
cheers

Bob is the server a simple server or advanced?
ie with vpn setup do you get a box like sys prefs time machine or do you have the full admin application ?
make a big diff.
Will run through steps when in office for an advanced server install.
It’s all pretty simple.

Great stuff Matt 🙂
Not had many issues. Few hangs with alot of DPX seq’s on OSX.
Actually looking forward to making it full screen on a 30″ :-/

MacPro 2x 3.2 with a DL Extreme (orig) in running 10.5.8, FCS3 with DL 7.3.1
All installed ok. Video output is working from all apps as expected.
MediaExpress2 fails to quit. Have to force quite.
Cannot switch to FCP or AE or Nuke. It seems it grabs the DL card and wont give it back.
The ability to save the playlist as an XML and it loads into FCP as a bin is really nice, gets me thinking 🙂
Really really need the 2k options. All the Red sizes. Just cropped would be nice for now. But the ability to drop a red QT proxy that is _F (4K) and have it scaled to 1080 on the output would be handy. Not RT but handy.
Also no options for the likes of square pixel pal 1024×576. Could be a simple blowup to 1080.
Would be good if you could mix certain frame sizes. ie on a 1920×1080 proj you could actually have a clip thats 1024×576, its just that would be scaled on playback and the rest that are 1080 wont.
For DPX recording can the filename be the TC generated by the camera or tape ?
Another vote for scaling the Ui
Oh, and a vote for the ability to install on a machine with no i/o card currently installed. Would be good to prep playout or capture lists on a non-online/playout/capture.

“Well I’d be surprised if they succeeded since the MBP (all laptops with ExpressCard) uses an x1 PCIe lane and I’d imagine the Red rocket will need a little more punch than that.”
R3d’s run at about 36MBs so as long as the only thing is the r3d data going out and playback is only on the external monitor I don’t see why it shouldn’t work.

August 21, 2009 at 8:16 am in reply to: Ultrascope vs. FSI built-in scopes, Error checkingBob,
I was just asking about the tv logic as it sits price wise between the FSI and the CineTal.I care about what everything costs. As I’m sure your well aware of a little thing called budgets.
My budget allows for a CineTal and I will be using the Ultrascope. It wouldn’t allow for a Cinetal and a OmniTek, so I wouldn’t say no one 😉
Though my questions was off-topic so apologies for that.

Loving the UltraScopes.
My spec
Antec Sonata Case
,Asus P5QProTurbo
,INTEL CPU CORE 2 DUO 2.8
.BFG 9800GT
,Corsair 4GB TWINX XMS2 6400 DDR2.
DESKSTAR 500gig.£420
Dell monitor was spare.. 🙂
PC took me 3 hours to build.. (never built one on my own before)
1 hour windows updates
2 mins install Scopes card
4 mins software installDone. No hiccups, nadda. (well missed the lan driver lol )
I now own scopes that do what I need and don’t have to rent anymore and on top i have a machine I can use to render in the evenings.
The monitor is run as a 2nd screen for the mac when required.
