You guys are all 100% right, bringing good and “real” advice to the table. In truth, I was just hoping that there would be some leniency I could give the guy, like sample work or something because I want to get started showing off my work to the world, but I realize that this is how “newbies” get taken advantage of. I just know the outcome will probably be that I won’t hear back from the guy once I tell him that I charge. But I just CAN’T do any random work for free!
Prior to any video work, I did mainly websites and graphics on the side, and I’ve dealt with MANY so called “potential clients” that disappear once I inform them that I charge actual money that’s OVER the $100 mark. So I shouldn’t expect anything different from video effects work unless I get a full-time job somewhere doing this (hopefully in the near future 🙂 ).
Well, I will let him know that I don’t work for free and open the arena to discuss price options, and if I hear from him I’ll keep this thread updated with his response, whether good or bad.
