Thanks for following my issue.
It has always worked with the current setup, with the same Hard-disks & never gave me any such issue….but i had always kept around 500GB-400GB free in each Hard disk to work smoothly.

Since last two months we have lot of footage coming in, & lot of payments pending 🙂 , so we hadn’t purchased a new hard-disk & kept dumping data in the same ones…I have noticed that the Hard-disk i am presently working on has only 19GB free data.

So now i have just bought a new 2TB hard-disk today (Seagate, Expansion plus) & would make at-least 500GB free from all my connected Hard-disks….As from your answer, i think if i give enough free space it might come back to sanity.

I know i should ideally have a RAID setup, have LaCie & i am working towards that.

Hello Dave,

Is this a Hardware issue or a Software issue?…by your answer it seems a Hardware issue.

I am storing my data in four Seagate 3TB external hard drives (the footage i am editing right now is on 2 Hard drives), all of them run on power & connected to my iMac USB ports….Since there are only four USB ports in iMac…i have attached a multi USB extension in one of the ports, so that i can connect pen drives, dongal etc on my imac.

Thanks Darby for this wonderful article…i was searching for a High Pass option in AE (been using the same in Photoshop to add detail to the pics).

Actually we have recently shot an interview & the interviewee is little out of focus…This article has least helped to add some details to the footage.

Thanks for the reply.
I never knew the recorded voice had so many issues 🙁

The settings in the transmitter were changed or tampered (and now no one remembers what)…Zoom H4n recording level for Mic was 75 (out of 100)….And we were into 4 channel mode of Zoom H4n.

In the 4 channel mode of Zoom H4n we record two layers of audio…First from MIC layer and the other from INPUT layer….We use the input layer in post-production, as that comes from the lapel mic receiver.

The MIC layer is recorded by Zoom H4n box…and generally this sound has lot of ambience noise, so we just keep it as a backup (in case something goes wrong)….For this, we keep the Zoom H4n box close to the interviewee as well.

The microphones used are called “ME2 lavalier”…they come with my Sennheiser Lapel Mics (EW-112 P G3).

The microphone (attached to transmitter) was placed on the neck tie of the interviewee, generally we place it on the shirt, but this time we placed it on the neck tie (just below the knot)…Is that Chin Shading???

I have also attached a snapshot of my FCP screen – here u’ll get an idea of what i mean by 3 layers of 0 Db sound….that means i repeat the same layer of audio three times in FCP.

Could you kindly let me know what am i doing wrong and what points i need to take care in future….I would be really obliged.

I use ordinary headphones to monitor voice during shoots (and unable to spot the issue)…I know i would require high quality headphones, kindly let me know which headphones should be used.

Also for the current issue i went into soundtrack pro (Mac Software)…and reduced the background noise by first selecting an area where i could clearly hear the noise (Setting this as NOISE POINT) and then reducing that in the entire audio.
