Thanks – I checked the view box – there is an option called waveforms and frames – and presto!!! you get yourself some visible events! 🙂

    thanks a ton

Thanks for helping me. I was able to change out some of the files. I was able to burn my project in halves – and am putting it together on my new computer. 2 questions left…for now anyway.

    1. Totally seems like a basic question – but I cannot find the answer anywhere…I installed Vegas 9.0 on new computer and usually when I import video and audio – you can see the event on the timeline in detail – meaning if its a video of a dog – you can see the clip of the dog on the timeline. I can see a blank event and if I click on it I can see the media is there by looking at the preview box – but I can’t see it on the timeline – its driving me crazy.

    2. so I don’t screw up a project again, can you clear up with me what format I’m supposed to be using in vegas? I am used to mpg and not sure I’ve worked with avi – so how do I get it in that format? and if I’m supposed to render the stuff before – how do i do that?

thanks a ton you both have saved my project.

    Hi
I got the VOB file from a DVD – I saved the DVD to my hard drive then imported the file into vegas – it gave me a VOB file. My mpg files are from the camcorder. I also import these files to my hard drive first because vegas doesn’t recognize my camera but windows does. I have never been able to use the capture mode straight from a camera using vegas.
I can replace the wmv files – there aren’t that many.
I take it I need to render things differently at the beginning of importing files. So does this mean I’m pretty much out of luck now for my current project?
I don’t know how to sift through what works and what doesn’t in my current project – so much is in it.

I work on my notebook – which i have been told that’s not a good idea – its vista-32… 4memoryRAM – only 1.8 duo CPU (running vs.8vegas)- so I got a new computer – and downloaded version 9.0 vegas – it has 8.00GB RAM and quad core processor 2.3 GZ – vista 64bit – so for future I should be way better.
But that doesn’t help me with my 1 project on my notebook. I’ve tried transferring it through external hard drive onto my new computer hard drive – that went fine – but my 9.0 version won’t open it – gets to 26% and freezes for hours.
Just trying to salvage this one project.
I do have jpeg files in my project – once you guys caught my attention to the pixels – i do see they are huge for the photos – so I am taking those out – but there’s only 2 photos in the entire project. But maybe that will help a little – working on that now.
You guys are great – more support than I’ve found anywhere- any other ideas?

    Hi
Okay, I am way better at editing than figuring out what the behind the scenes are of the project. I looked at the properties of one of my zoom in frames, and it says the pixel aspect ratio is 0.9091 (NTSC DV). I used the standard editing template showing 720x480x32. Most of the footage is from a Mini DV handycam from Sony, 2007 version. Other footage gets ripped from DVD’s made from someone elses handycam, 2001 version. So VOB files, MPG, wmv or wav files for the audio, jpg for photos. Am I looking in the right places for the info you’re asking?
I was able to delete parts of the project and burn DVDs of a smaller version of the project. But literally it could only render less than 10min of the project at a time.
