Thanks – how about this – I am SLF98 on aol/aim freshfaith@hotmail.com on msn messenger. I will probably be trying to work on this more when I get off tonight at 7 central. Otherwise I won’t be able to work on it until probably Wednesday or Thursday when I’m off work. My other frustrating problem is my dvx100a right now. It keeps telling me there’s no tape in the camera so I cleaned it and it’s still acting up – so I’ve been sorta working on both problems at once. Although I do feel better that while Vegas is acting up it seems to still be working, which is good. Thanks for helping though….so far so good.

One more thing…when I started working on the audio problems in Vegas tonight I went to capture to check the audio and noticed all my previous clips listed there in capture. Then after workign with the audio I noticed that all my clips were gone. I closed everything out and opened it back up and they are still gone. I didn’t do anything to remove them from capture. I hate to sound like a moron but I’m fairly new to Vegas and don’t understand these little problems. The clips are not a big loss but I just don’t understand what happened to them. I am going to do a search and see if they got moved somewhere else though.

okay this below I had trouble with lol. I went to audio device and chose w”indows classic wave driver”. I still get the error when I open vegas BUT when I tried to record a little it did record audio. I didn’t understand going to advanced and changing the asio settings. When I go to advanced under audio device it has this:
Output:SB audigy 2zs audio (dcco)
output:realtek ac97 audio
Input:SB audigy 2zs audio (dcco)
Input:realtek ac97 audioIt doesn’t seem that you actually choose one of these but if you do I have no idea what to choose. I do not see anything in any settings that says ASIO.
Vegas seems to be working okay now but I do still have the error when I open Vegas and it seems to freeze up now from time to time. It did record audio but I just tried it the one time. Hopefully it will work fine on my next project. I can’t understand how the settings got messed up in the first place.
“In Vegas go to Options/pref/audio device tab.
dropdown, choose “windows classic wave driver”
you will now see options in the playback, rec boxes.
Choose the creative device.
OK out of everything. Test Playback, test record in vegas.
should work fine
If you get a sample mismatch error. then Refer to my previous email about matching sample rate settings.
use the advanced button to get to the creative ASIO settings, then go to vegas audio properties, match it. All should be finethen try all your other software.
Also that creative device may have an options box under programs or maybe in the Control panel, maybe a shortcut on the task tray.
the Point is to make sure that it isnt in some weird forced 5.1 ASIO mode etc… go in there and check to see that it is in some basic mode and not forced into surround or ASIO.Refer to my previous email about matching sample rate settings. thats your next issue to tackle.
The workaround I just gave you bypasses the matched sample issue.Anytime I use my Motu multi channel audio converters I must set my vegas project properties to a specific sample rate then set the Motu unit to match. then all is good
Lets start there. “ -
Okay great thanks it opened. I got rid of the splash screen. Opened it again and got the error. I went in and it says the audio device type is microsoft sound mapper. I left it like this and tried to play a file – it worked fine. But that doesn’t mean I can record audio since that’s what the error says is wrong (unable to record audio). so I go and click on SB audigy ASIO – that says it doesnt follow the current bit rate and so it won’t play back – neither does creative ASI) – but I do see under the list adobe default windows 1.5 which is what itunes and adobe pro were having trouble opening because of. So now I’m not sure if leaving it on microsoft sound mapper will allow me to record audio later when I try or if I need to go in and further change settings. What I’m even more confused about it how the audip settings were changed in the first place. I just edited a video last week and it worked fine – all I can figure is when I installed a new version of itunes some things changed with itunes and quicktime and ultimately changed some of these settings as well?
any idea now? thanks though so much – getting it to load was the scary part lol – I was afraid I was going to have to reinstall it.
