No, that isn’t true. It’s always been possible to have multiple sequences open in Premiere (even in pre CS versions)… maybe you’re talking about projects? In that case you’re correct, you can’t open multiple projects at a time. You can however import sequences from different projects, I believe it’s been that way since CS4.

To be honest, I don’t really see this as a limitation, it’s just the way Premiere operates. I may be biased though, as most of my other tools only allow one project to be open at a time (Realflow, MoI3D, Mocha Pro, etc.).

LOL, right… WinNT 4 running dual CPUs and featuring preemptive multitasking… before preemptive multitasking was cool. There are days I still miss Windows 2000 too, stable, simple, flexible. 🙂

Big data is kind of a marketing term. It’s all about sorting, organizing, managing and extracting meaningful information from the increasing amount of data being generated by internet (cloud) connected users. Microsoft and it’s partners have industry specific solutions for dealing with “Big Data”… mostly built around custom applications, Windows Azure and SQL Server. MS actually has a pretty big footprint in enterprise class media (streaming, hosting, applications). The real traffic at their booth was probably in the private meeting rooms. 🙂

Come to think of it… Accenture usually has a booth of that size at NAB too.

Ah, I understand. To be fair though, you would also have to say the same thing of Sony and Arri, since both use sensors that are slightly smaller than Super 35. 🙂 Otherwise, I agree with everything else you’re saying. If these cameras deliver a good quality picture AND make it to market relatively quickly in big enough numbers, Blackmagic might actually push bigger manufacturers to make better, less expensive offerings (fingers crossed). I am really looking forward to owning the BMPC4K and possibly two BMPCCs… Like you, I just hope that the products live up to the hype.

Hey Rick,

I’m not sure I understand your point. FF 35 is a standard for stills photography… the BMPC4K sensor is all of 4 millimeters smaller (diagonally) than Super 35mm film… which is the gold standard for cinema. Are you saying that Blackmagic is somehow comparing their sensor to FF?
