If you’re in the US, you don’t have to threaten legal action… just take it. Fraud and piracy are both criminal matters. Call the Distric Attorney’s office and tell them what happened… let them take it from there. At least, that’s what I would do. 🙂

You don’t have to do much on the Windows side since AE and Premiere Pro CS3 support Panasonic’s P2 format. You just copy the MXF files to your hard drive and import them into your project/comp/timeline like any othe file. No transcoding or intermediate files required.

Even with plugins, AE won’t import 3D objects. You can create 3D geometry with those plugs… but none of them will import existing .obj files. 🙁

Nope – I believe only Fusion, Nuke, Inferno and Flame can import 3D geometry. AE (and others) are good for finishing and visual effects.

Personally, I prefer PCs. My vendor of choice “for now” is Bold Data Systems (https://www.boldata.com/catalog.cfm/page/wks_Intel). Their machines are well built and well priced. Support from these guys is awesome (1 Year Premium On-Site Warranty with 24/7 Technical Support).

Nope, you have to run a 64 bit OS like XP 64, but you can use more than 2 GB of ram. I’ve been using 8+ gigs of ram on Windows OS’s for years and have had no issues related having too much of it. 🙂

In the end it boils down to personal preference. I use Adobe’s CS3 Production Bundle with Cinema 4D and I have very few issues related to Windows. Your mileage may vary.

Update – my issue popped up again… right before a remote shoot yesterday. It was awesome finding out right before it was time to roll that I couldn’t change my gamma settings. Oh well, time to email tech support. 🙁

I just disconnected the power for a few minutes (instead of a few seconds), hit the reset button again and powered the camera up. It seems to be working like normal again… for now.

Hi Rennie,

I just tried the reset switch – I was able to change modes, but after I powered the camera off then on again, the same issue occurred, the mode button and the menu button stopped working. Using the reset switch again didn’t help. 🙁

Thanks Mark and Erik for your responses. We’re also looking for ways to use each room for multiple purposes (wiring up the conference room for realtime streaming, using the soundstage for focus groups etc.). We hadn’t considered a dedicated area for chromakey work, but I think it’s a good idea.

Thanks Erik – it sounds like you have a pretty decent amount of space. We’re thinking about incorporating a green room and a small conference room in our design. Do you have dedicated space for those functions?
