Hope I’m not breaking any rules here. But…
AJA knows of the problem. They have a fix on the way. That’s all I will say. If Will wants to say more, he can.
In conclusion, I’m happy.

Great! Let us all know how it works. I can’t afford to go into a Beta right now. Too many clients in the fire, so to speak.

March 7, 2007 at 5:16 pm in reply to: 2- Dual Core Xeons or 1 – Dual Core Core 2 Duo?If you are going to use After Effects, then the multi-cores WILL make a difference…if you use Gridiron Nucleo Pro. It forces AE to use all of the processors and all of the processing power. I live by it. I just wish that the same software was available for Premiere Pro. I hate rendering or transcoding in Premiere Pro and seeing it only using 25% of the processing power.

Do a search for “AJA Dragging” or Author: “Lowrysam” in this forum for a relevant thread. I had some success by pulling out just one file. Also, my workstation is WAY over-qualified to use the AJA card so using the recommended hardware was not an issue.
AJA is aware of the problem and through private emails, is working to correct it. It is mentioned at the end of the v2.5 release notes as “Known issues”.

Well, Quicktime is actually the root of the problem on AVID Systems. There is a quicktime dll file that hangs it up. There is a workaround on the AVID site if you search for “AVID Encore” in the knowledge base.
As for Premiere and such, I don’t get it. I have it installed on a Production Studio Pro system with no problems. Shuts down just fine.

January 18, 2007 at 6:21 pm in reply to: Printing on to a blank DVD with PS vs. Epson Print CD with an Epson R1800I’ve been creating DVD labels in Photoshop and exporting as an RGB JPEG file. I then import as a picture into the crappy Epson software. No problem. If you want my template, just let me know. It has Reg marks and outlines for “small hub” and “large hub” discs.
As for the print-straight-from-Photoshop thing, why bother? We tried several templates in A4 and never got it to line up consistently. It seems that Epson’s software is just as much a mechanical driver as it is a page layout designer. I think they wanted it to be exclusive.

This will happen EVERY TIME with AVID Adrenaline systems and Encore 2.0. Can I assume that is what you are using?

Update: I left the wrong phone number with AJA. They were calling my fax. Thanks to Tech support for waking me up to this. Sorry guys.

Already having problems… I called AJA and left a message. Haven’t heard back. Biggest problems are:
-Video playback in Program monitor in Premiere 2.0 is now Draft quality despite changes to the settings. The Source monitor video is just fine, as well as video sent to the externl NTSC monitor (SDI and Component).
-Resizing video that is less than 100% to anything larger removes the .9 pixel aspect ratio. Pixels become square.
-Playback of 720X480 video in Machina with the Primary Video Format set to same causes the software to crash and close. I CAN playback 720×480 video with the settings at 720×486, but this causes obvious distortion to video and playback (mainly wrong fields).
I’m rolling back to the previous version until I can get an answer.

OH MY GOD!
I’ve had these exact same problems. I thought I was the only one. I’m gonna bump this so that we can see if anyone has discovered a fix for any of these problems yet.
