  • I’ll give that a try! Thanks for the help! It’s good to know that I’m at least somewhat close!

  • No, when I play the animation in quicktime it looks as it should. Is there a way for me to import the animation without FCP interlacing it?

  • I looked into exporting but it seems the only options are SWF, XFL, and Pro project option. What I’m trying to do is take this lower third animation and export (or render it as I was going: Add to render –> render) it to be used in a Final Cut Pro 7 sequence.

    My Render Settings are:

And my Output Module settings for the render look like this:

But when I put it in FCP the animation doesn’t look sharp and I’m pretty sure it’s because it has an upper field dominance when I need it to have none.

Is this enough information? I’m sorry, but I’m really not familiar with AE so I’m not exactly sure what is needed.

Sorry to take so long getting back to you on this. Office has been a bit of a mess lately with a bunch of deadlines suddenly being pushed up. Not that my answer will help much. Asked what the error said and the person said they didn’t look at it. Just clicked: okay.

I bet you can imagine my annoyed response to that. They then mentioned that it was a huge wall of text because the FCP program itself had crashed. Not sure how much I can really trust this person’s word, but what can you do when you didn’t see the error yourself? So sounds like FCP itself crashed about halfway into the media copying and gave out a wall of text.

So much help there. I’m just going to break the project up I’ve decided when I get back to it. However, that may be a bit as that has actually been one of the few things that has gotten it’s deadline pushed back.

Ah, the wonderful world of TV, right?

Yeah, that’s actually what my plan is to try in a bit. (There’s an editor using FCP currently on the machine we need). I just figured I’d jump the gun and try to see if these was a common type problem for others who’ve tried to media manage large flies before.

🙂 Thanks for the quick response!

There’s an error message and as soon as I can get a hold of the person who keeps closing it out before I see it I’ll be able to tell you what it says. Or at least I think there is? Maybe it just freezes. I just keep getting told it stopped working. Will update this when I hear back.

Actually maybe FCP just freezes if they know for a fact that it keeps failing around the half way mark.

And no, we haven’t tried to do it one of the time like that as there are a lot of sequences, but maybe that’s just what we’ll have to do.

[Betuel Benitez] “So i figured out the problem. You guys have to go on blackmagics website and download the Desktop video 9.2 beta 3 if your on lion 10.7.3”

This worked perfect for my group. We were having a hell of a time getting it to work because we thought we had all the drivers loaded. Downloaded this now we’re having no problems at all!

  • I didn’t think to check the sampling rate on the projects. I’m actually not sure how as I haven’t had to do that before.

As for removing the time code from the clip. Maybe that would work. I’d have to test that if I get a free moment later. Still would like to know why one project reads as the time code being wrong and the other reads it right for the same clip in the same cut down sequence.

  • The drives are identical as well as the file structure except one begins with Edit_1 the other Edit_2. Each clip has it’s own name, although it is only varied by a 001, 002, ect at the end. (And some other specs, like location and date it was shot, but then those are broken down by number.)

I guess I’ll just have to switch the harddrives they were editing on. This just stumps me as I’ve never had a reconnect issue before when the files haven’t been moved or renamed – just the project from one computer to another.

  • Unfortunately I’m not sure how these .aif clips where made. They’re all named location_AudioBU_date_001 as I was told something on shoot went wrong so the camera didn’t have an audio at all.

Someone who is no longer working here originally used the audio back ups to sync everything up. It’s over 2 hours of footage. It’s going to be hell if I have to sync it all up again. Even using match clips as all the original time code is still there. (Which is exactly what I’ve been doing while searching/waiting for an answer).

So without being able to ask them how they made these .aif (as they were originally in a .wav format. That’s sadly all I know.) Is there a way to find out/fix this?
