Apparently, the transmitters only output 10mW, so this may be the biggest problem with our poor reception.

Thank you very much for that information. I wouldn’t have known what was a good power output for the transmitters. I’ll check into these specs before I make my final decision.

Have you had any experience with the newer Azden models? Specifically the Azden 325 ULT. I was looking at it on Videoguys.com and it appeared to be a upgraded version of the 200UPR system that we currently have. I didn’t know if you had any thoughts on it.

I’d love to be able to ask every client who brings in a tape recorded in LP mode to also bring the camera it was shot on, but often times they don’t have the camera anymore, a friend shot it, etc. I can’t tell them not to shoot in LP mode ahead of time because they don’t come to us until they need to transfer the footage to DVD, so we don’t get the luxury of speaking to them before they shoot. These aren’t professional clients, mostly people shooting weddings and other family events.

Like I said, this is a small part of our business, but it still annoys customers when we claim to be professional but we can’t even play back their tapes.

Nevermind, I got it to work. I think it had something to do with having multiple sequences open. I closed all the sequences except the one I wanted to export and it worked.

Thanks, that method does work, but I found a much better one. If you select a clip in the project window (or even multiple clips, which is great), then go up to the clip menu, go down to Audio Options, then to Source Channel Mappings…, you can select “mono as stereo” under the track format, then you will get the two separate tracks when you drag that clip to the timeline. You can delete one, or lower the volume of it, etc. to get the effect you desire.

Ok, sorry, I misunderstood. I did try using media manager to downconvert the HD footage to DV, but I couldn’t ever get the size to be the same as the DV footage. What exact settings in media manager should I use for this?

I used the media manager and converted the DV footage into HD 720p24 with HD 720p60 compressor, but it wouldn’t convert the framerate to 24, it kept it at 30. When I placed this converted footage into the HD timeline the sides (left and right) had very large black lines.

But, I then took this footage and brought it into Quicktime Pro, then exported it using the same settings as Final Cut, but at 24fps. After it was exported I imported it into FCP and dropped it into the HD timeline and it worked perfectly (the size was the same as the HD footage and I didn’t have to render anything).

Unfortunately this process will take an extremely long time and a very large amount of space (since converting the DV footage to HD doubles it in size).

If you have any other suggestions let me know.
