I realize this is an old topic but I have had this issue myself this week and the way I fixed it was by using a Data Rescue 3 which has an option in it called FileIQ where you can teach it to look for any file type. I loaded a couple of .mts samples in for it to learn the file type and then I was able to pull save all of the files I thought I had lost from a shoot earlier in the week.
i used Voltaic to convert the files which took ages but got the job done.

    Hi Rodrigo,

Sorry I know this is an old post but I thought you might know how to help me.
My problem is similar to the one in this thread.
    I have a Sony HXR NX5P.
I was shooting today mainly on to card a when that had 20 min left I swapped over to card b.
While shooting everything looked fine but after dumping card a I then tried to USB connect card b. I was then given the error message there is a formatting error with card a.
The main problem I have now is that I cannot even copy the contents of the card onto my hard drive and do a mts conversion like I have done in the past.
Do you know of any way I can fix this problem.
    Any help is much appreciated.

    Shaun
