Well, yes, I use my xm2 to output to a 32″ 16 by 9 crt tv, I just thought it was possible to see the footage as the players see it..
VLC (VideoLan) is a nice open source player with really many features. You should take a look at it 😉

Both in the source and program monitors. I am posting you a link to an image which shows both the source and monitor at 100% and below a part of the same footage frame from vlc player. All players display the footage like vlc in case you wonder. No effects applied at all to the footage, same happens to progressive and interlaced material. I hope this info is enough. Maybe is just me, but I don’t like it the way it looks in premiere. Also I noticed that there is less color in vlc’s output but this might just be vlc.
