  • I’d like to add one extra thing into the conversation if it is okay. I have always been a Quicktime H264 guy. I am now needing to deliver MPEG4 videos with H264 compression and I’m finding that there is a slight quality issue. Almost a “zebra” effect with the video.

question one: am I doing something wrong with my MPEG4 export
question two: Quicktime conversion seems to be the only way I can export an MPEG4 with H264 compression. I tried to create a custom compression in Compressor with that option (MPEG4 with H264) and I can’t seem to create that.

Am I doing something wrong? Some help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Fantastic!! That clears things up.

Am I correct that QT Conversions changes the compression of your source media in the capture scratch?

I thought I read that somewhere.

    Thanks for your time!

  • Fantastic!

I need to track down my IT guy and I will get that done. I may check back in in a few days if I have anymore issues. But hopefully I wont.

Thanks for your help! Have a great weekend.

  • okay that all makes sense.

So just to clarify, you think reinstalling OS will address the application installer quiting?

All of this is irrelevant, if the installer keeps quitting.

David, I really appreciate your time. Hopefully I can get this going!

    Thanks so much..

  • David, thanks for the input. I didn’t realize that was a bad idea. I Thought the point of FC Studio 3 was to just pop the install disc in and do the upgrade.

So just to be clear you are saying I should reinstall OS.I’m not sure I am clear on the FCP upgrade process though. Do I reinstall FC Studio 2 then do the upgrade in the middle of that process? All I have is the upgrade discs. Then go back and remove FC Studio 2? Do you mind breaking that down for me?

Jerry, I was wondering if you had any input. I properly adjusted the codecs and I am still having the black and white canvas issue. I even went back to some old projects that never had a problem before and even those canvases are black and white.

Brian, is there any other issue that this could be within final cut? I setting or something? I addressed the codec issue and it doesn’t seem to be fixing it. I even went back and opened some older projects that I never had a problem with and even those canvases are black and white. Any thoughts?

    yep!

I moved back. In September it will be 2 years. I’ve been actually working steady as a freelancer. Was just doing some work in LA last week. Just got back to Indy yesterday. Where are you and Tim working? Tell him I said hello.
