Sorry to ask…there are just a lot of people who shoot 24P and remove the pulldown but are trying to output to tape as a master. Obviously not what you are doing.

My question is, why did you have a 23.98 timeline if you are outputting to DVCAM? DVCAM runs at 29.97, not 23.98. By going 23.98 all you are doing is complicating things (IMHO) because you have to go back to 29.97 on output.
Why not stick with 29.97 and not muck with 23.98? Simple in, simple out…

Yes, take your demo reel to post facilities, or production houses. There is usually a 411 book of production houses in the area that people use. If your demo reels doesnt’ do it, then offer to start lower and work your way up. Shows a willingness to them that you really want to wrk for them, and will do anything. People like that.
And work HARD…people notice that as well

Become an Assistant Editor. I know that you have tons of work under your belt, but if you want to make it in the broadcast television production market (In LA or NY) then you need to start at the bottom (well, near bottom. Not a Production Assistant or Vault manager).
No, you don’t need an agent. For finding editing work, you will need a demo reel. But really, the only editing jobs you will probably get with your age and level of experience would be Cable home and garden shows, design shows, possibly documentary (if you have that experience). Nothing Narrative. Narrative is a very closed environment and one that you need to start from the bottom and work up…network, get to know people. What sells you as an assistant is your technical knowledge and your ability to organize. Organization is the key.
Well, I should actually stop and ask, where are you located? Where will you try to look for work?

When you export the QT movie, self contained and importing into iDVD, it isn’t burning THAT EXACT file to DVD, but rather converting it to mpeg-2. This is how I do all my disks and have not encountered one problem.

I think he wants to find the shots on the timeline. So that he can track them down for Color Correction.
Just play and watch the cut. That is what I do, and really the best way to make sure you miss nothign.

To export your DV project so there is no loss in quality, simply go to the File Menu and select EXPORT>QUICKTIME MOVIE. Not Quicktime Conversion, fot this will compress the footage. Make sure the settings match your timeline settings, make it self contained and you are set.
If you then want a DVD, then simply import into iDVD and burn. It will compress the file into MPEG-2 for you.

Juli…you are not quite understanding how DVD authoring is done. You 8 GB file is not what you directly put onto the DVD. When you export as a QT movie and get that, you end up with an uncompressed file. You now need to compress it into MPEG-2 for DVD authoring.
If you use iDVD, just open iDVD, import the file and when you burn the disc, then iDVD will compress it properly for you. If you use DVD Studio Pro, then you would run this file thru Compressor using one of the presets. That converts it into file formats that DVD SP uses. No clue about Toast…sorry.

Stick with what you are doing. you cannot mix formats on the timeline without having to render one of them…
