Yes you need to use masking!
just add a mask layer on the socket-layer simply by drawing a closed path by “pen tool (G)” (1st select the socket layer then choose pen tool or press G on keyboard and then draw path indicates the area that you don’t want to be appeared in your scene remember the path will be a yellow path by default which you can also change the color of it in cases that the scene is too bright already and the path is not obvious), then change the values to get the nice result from it! for example you can make key frames for the shape of the path so that you can animate the limited masked area of the object, or make key frames for the mask Opacity if you want it to be appeared in a certain frame and disappeared in another time later! you can also change the edge of the mask by changing the feather value or expand it by expansion value!
it is easy and fun when you use mask tools in AE!
Good Luck!Shahin.

June 6, 2010 at 8:49 pm in reply to: Basic Export in AE CS3 gets stretched horizontallyHi Jojo,
OK, I think you set the footage aspect ratio to 4:3 but is the Pixel Aspect Ratio also set to SQUARE PIXEL or it is set to something else?
The footage ratio can be chosen or set on the format presets box from the export format settings, I think you should set it to NTSC DV 720×480, but make sure the pixel aspect ratio is also set to D1/DV NTSC (0.91) or if it didn’t work set it to SQUARE PIXEL!
Hope this can help you.
Good luck.Shahin
P.S. If you couldn’t get the right result from the advice above, please provide some more information about the original footage ratio and pixel ratio and also your composition settings in reply! thank you.

Sounds so weired, the key frames are not there but the animation is! by the way if you have a previous version of your work which you might save like the day before (when the animation of the camera was already done properly), open it and check whether the problem is also there or not, even you may check an older and older versions. if the file was OK, then just simply select all the key frames you want from the camera portion of that file and then copy and paste it in your new file then remember to “save as” in a new file again.
Well, I think if the new file which you will create got the same problem the very next time you open it again, it might be a bug or something from your AE or even your OS! Or perhaps you are using an effect which the key frames are lie under one of the portions of that certain effect!
Hope this help.
Good luck!Shahin

Hi Lance,
I finally got a 550D! Actually I asked for the 7D, but it was not so fit to my budget. Although the DSLR is so good in picture (perfect colors and sharpness and everything), not really good in stabilizing!
If you know any good way for stabilizing a film footage please tell me.Thank you.

Hi Steffen,
Thanks for your reply,
Yes, actually you are right, I also went through a lot of websites, but basically the biggest difference between 550D and 7D is the processor! 550D has only one image processor though the 7D has two, may be it is 2 times faster in doing some automatic process than 550D!
Even in some ways 550D is better than 5D Mark II, however I really don’t know why this model is still expensive. Thanks for your guidance.
