Thank you steve and john, I’m sorry to resort to posting in what is basically the wrong section, I’ve just been searching for the answer for hours and I eventually just posted here, knowing I’ll get the best answer.

I was recording with fraps, which only gives you two, count it, two! options to record in, ridiculous right? Full size, or half size, tsk tsk. I have just gotten Dxtory today, which actually allows me to record in any resolution I want! I’m super excited, and as you said, this will allow me to record at 720p, and not have to force a resize in PowerDirector!

Thanks again guys, and I can only hope that someday sony vegas catches up to modern hardware, and redesigns their rendering process to be more efficient, so that a 1 minute clip doesn’t take 4 minutes to render, when it takes less than a minute in PowerDirector.
