  • Great thread, it helped me a lot. Can I sync up my codecs on a Cannon GL2 and a Sony HDR-FX1?

  • thanks a bunch Ryan. I will try your suggestions first thing in the morning and let you know if it worked. I really appreciate your help.

  • Thanks for the reply Ryan!

I tried the settings you recomended, and still no luck. FCP is reading the camera but will not import footage. One thing I have noticed is on my Sony HDR-FX1 where the firewire connects to the camera, there is a two blue lights, with the words, “HDV” and “DV” and while the firewire is connected the blue light is on HDV, when I hit “Play” to begin importing footage, the blue light switches to “DV”, the import screen stays black and does not import any footage. I’m wondering if maybe there is a setting on the camera I’m missing that is trying to get it to import as “DV” instead of “HDV”.

My camera is the SONY HDr-FX1 and my computer is a MAC OS X Version 10.5.8 and I’m running the newest version of Final Cut Pro, i’m importing with a Belkin 800/400 9-pin to 4-pin Firewire Cable.

    Any imput would be great!

    thanks,

    Seth

  • Hey Ryan, your post contains the answer to my question, but those two screenshots you linked to no longer are valid, is there anyway you could reconect those?

    Thank you,
