I figured the whole thing out finally. When I had posted this message I had been up for about 30 hours working on a project and didn’t realize I wasn’t changing the output in AE to Straight (instead of premultiplied) and as a RGB+Alpha Sequence. My bad.

    Thanks for the response, though…

    Yes,

I have tried the PNG sequence with an alpha channel. Again, this COMPLETELY works in AE but not in Vegas and PP. I have not tried the TGA sequence so I will give that a shot. Thanks.

Shine is incredibly easy to use (that’s why you see it on SOOOOOOO MANY commercials, tv programs and movies). The best place to start is http://www.trapcode.com. There are some tutorials on how to use this plug-in but I can also provide some info on how to use this with After Effects and your footage.

I believe you said you don’t have a lot of movement with the person. Therefore, you will need to draw a couple of masks around the eyes… first of all duplicate your footage so that you can easily isolate the eyes… then draw masks around your eyes so that you can apply the effect to the duplicated layer. Since it is the same footage the eyes will line up and move exactly the same and you can just apply the effect to that layer.

Lastly, you will need to play around with your length of the rays, color and the way they act within your scene. But I would much rather use something like AE or Combustion for effects generating than Vegas.

Good luck and let me know if I can help in any other way. Take care.

A simple answer to your question is to purchase combustion or after effects and trapcode’s Shine plug-in and motion track the effect.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Vegas and solely use it as an editor because when it comes to any type of motion graphics or animation Vegas just doesn’t cut it for graphics. Keep the change…
