Never mind, got it working. Just needed to repair disk and it mounted. Started copying, did a test, works fine! Thanks!

To me, it seems getting a fixed tall table and simply buying an adjustable stool makes more sense. Of course, it would only accomodate one standing height. But, the link provided for that adjustable table looks amazing.

You know the great thing about having a standing table? You at least have the option to sit or stand. If your table is stuck at the sitting position, you almost have no choice but to sit.

    Thanks for the link!

So you’re right I checked back with the Apple customer business line and it wasn’t the Apple store they sent me to, it was Melrose Mac, who happens to work with Apple as a reseller.

But in any case, like I said earlier: YES, IF you want a Mac Pro tower with the i7 with and the latest graphics card, etc. excluding the Thunderbolt, it can be made. And like I said earlier, it’s expensive for individuals.

Just call them and ask if you don’t believe me, here’s their address: https://www.melrosemac.com

They are located in Southern California, so shipping would be costly if you’re not there. Again, this is only if you really need to have the Mac Pro Tower for your business. Any by the way, I have run into a couple post houses in Santa Monica and Burbank that mentioned the idea that the cost to upgrade to updated customized Mac Pros vs changing out an entire bay would be more cost efficient. Either way, still too expensive for me.

From what I understand, other than Thunderbolt, Apple does offer custom built Mac Pros.

Yes, at a higher price, but if people really wanted an updated Mac Pro Tower with the latest i7 chip, graphics card, etc. you can purchase one using their “Business” store.

I called the customer service and they referred me to their business line and yes, they actually have builders that will customize the Mac Pro to specs that are not found on the online store.

I never did it because it was way too expensive for just me, but if you own a business, it might be worth looking into. There’s also leasing as well: If you’re in limbo and are waiting till next year for something to happen, but you need a Mac now, it’ll be cheaper to lease a Mac instead of buying it.

So, I was seriously considering purchasing the DP4, but I have a shoot coming up the beginning of July. It seems there is a delay on the smallhd DP4 and it won’t be available till Mid-July 🙁

Specifically looking for a monitor that can do hdmi pass thru.

Marshall is too expensive for me
Jag 35 doesn’t have pass thru
DP4 and Z finder are both back ordered till Mid July.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

January 11, 2011 at 1:18 am in reply to: Best Mac Pro for FCP 7.0.3

I’m curious about this because I’m in the market for a new Mac Pro as well, along with a new set of drives. I will be editing HD along with lots of graphics and tons of footage. So, I was looking at that G-SpeedQ, but I’m not too savvy on eSata and how it works, especially with FCP and After Effects. I just know that it’s faster than FW800.

But, I have been to the Mac store before and none of their Macs come with built in eSata or even an option. So, I guess it’s something I’ll have to install on my own. Are there things to consider when purchasing a Mac Pro if I know for sure I will be using an eSata Drive like the G Speed Q? (ie Audio Hardware like the MOTU Ultralite mk3, or multiple video cards)

    Any advice would help, thanks!

July 9, 2010 at 10:09 pm in reply to: Chroma Key RGB Value

Good question, I believe the screen that we’re using has is an anti glare HDTV.

Most of the shots we’re using will have elements within the frame that we can use to track. The screen will not leave the frame or anything.

But, isn’t there a numerical RGB value that is best suited for keying? Particularly with After Effects?

Actually, I just found out that it doesn’t. So I guess I’d have to just use the slate.
