  • I also have to mention that capturing DV from that very same camera (Panasonic NV-DS29EG)wasn’t a problem at all with my laptop (a Targa with Windows XP and Premiere 6.5). So the Camera still works very well in this setup.

    Thanks so far

  • Hi,
sorry I wasn’t responding immediatly – just started my day at work overseas.

OS: Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

Camera: Panasonic NV-DS29EG (miniDV so DV)

So might it the camera that doesn’t fit the available Protocols?

Yes, I know that one as allready written. The ‘Flicker’ filter works but compared to the ‘Deinterlace Flicker’ in AE it is just inexact – minimal – medium – maximal (I guess that’s what the three steps are called in English).

    Thanks

    Hi Rob,
yes, that is true not long ago I came to the very same solution! Funny thing, deleting the second folder didn’t work – first. The PC admin found out that there was allready the CS2 version of AE installed. So there must have been several trees of the Saphire Plugins.

After deinstalling CS2 all was normal, no warnings when starting AE.

Nice to hear about that again after such a while!

    Chears Rob!

May 30, 2008 at 2:49 pm in reply to: Flickering Shadows…

    Hi Simon,

I had this shadow-artefact problem aswell. From my experiences it seems this has to do with:
    – Layers in comps and subcomps that have that have a different comopsit mode then Normal (e.g.: Difference, Ad or Multiply)
    – Layer Styles
    – Distance of the light source to the objects

Nativ shadows always goes funny when one or more of the points listed occure. There might even be some others like effects or the enhencment of vector graphics (using the little switch with the star on ai-layers in the timeline)

I hope you can understand all of this because I am working on a german version of After Effects and I just know a few things in english on this software.

Okay, that sounds solutionwise quiet profound.

Thanks for your support! Though I can’t make any changes on the Mac right now I think what to go for …

    Andres,

big thanks, though it’s no good news to me, also big thanks to Kevin and Rob for your help!

I made a software update on the Decklink, that worked for a while but not for long, as I mentioned. Also I cleaned up the Render Vault wich helped a bit but wasn’t perfect.

The thing is: Our entire company is equiped with blackmagic. Do you see a problem in using aja on one or two computers and filpping projects over to others?

    Kevin,
thank you very much for your quick help! Your last reply was very straight, so excuse my ignorance but I need to be answered some questions to get it clear just for myself:

Why rebooting from the Mac OSX disk? And how do I do that (I haven’t even heard about such stuff)?

Disk Utility fine. But what do you mean with ‘should have’ the Disk Warrior? You think the disk needs to be worked and repaired all over?

    Thanks again

    Hi!

sequnce: DV PAL (the edited clips have Blackmagic DV PAL Codec)

drives: different ones – RAIDs with Fire wire 800. Right now I work on a RAID 1 level drive with seagate disks, good, stabile stuff. Though it doesn’t make a difference.

I guess the Mac is too old now or needs to be done all over (new system installation).

    What do you think.

    Thank you!
    Sebastian
