  • The only thing that appears to now be a workaround solution is the final thing I mentioned I was trying:

Having been able to copy & paste just the interview clips into another working project, I then exported the interview via media encoder and then brought that into a new project. All appears to be working. First time all day it hasn’t frozen with these clips. I could never open a new sequence in that somehow corrupted project, not could I even close the project – all would result in the spinning ball and a force quit. A day gone, but grateful to have come up with a workaround.

Hoping and praying this was some strange aberration and wont’ repeat itself.
    Thanks again.

Anne, thanks for the reply. Since you didn’t mention it being unique to me, I assume everyone using CC 2017 is experiencing the new, slower export time.

  • I added another 8gb of ram to the system today. No noticeable difference from the improved performance I reported after creating a new projects and pasting in the previous project’s work (that had been converted from cs6 to cc 2017).

But, I suppose extra ram can’t hurt.

  • Thanks for the input Greg. Do you have any advice for purchasing new ram for my imac? I’m sure Apple will charge a fortune, and not sure if A) I can get it cheaper B) If I can install it myself, and C) If I need to or how to find out what type of Ram I have (to match)

    Thanks – S

  • Thank you David for the information and time..

  • Thank you for the tips Dan, appreciated..

  • Thank you Shane, all footage taken on Canon DSLRs – mov h264.

Question – I’m continuing to experiment to find the problem and I started a new project from scratch in CC 2017 and recreated what I did to the initial interview clips (Audition hiss removal / Crumplepop echo remover) and so far no lag at all in the timeline. Then it occurred to me…

This project was imported from CS6 into CC 2017 (converted). Could that be causing the issue I wonder?

    I only have 8gb so assume that’s what’s wrong with mine…

Hi Jim, just Vince’s response. I believe mine is caused (had another crash yesterday) by too little Ram. All my exports work perfectly though through Adobe Media Encoder, so I use it all the time.

Vince, thanks for your reply. Appreciate the time. I was successfully able to export it yesterday using Media Encoder (which I never use). Any thoughts on why it would have worked exporting that way vs through Premiere?
