Not sure were you read that. Almost all HDMI source devices can transmit 24p. In fact I think that’s part of the Blu-ray spec. Not all HDMI TVs can accept that format, but most of the newer ones can.

Rafael is correct. There are progressive-scan DVDs. In fact the vast majority of them nowadays are 24p progressive.
DVDs can be authored at either 60i/50i, 30p/25p, or 24p.

Depends on what you want. With 50i/60i, you get a higher frame rate (it deinterlaced to 50p/60p). With 25p/30p, you get double the vertical resolution, but half the frame rate.

I’m pretty sure that’s not possible. If two editors have the same project file open and one tries to save it, it will say “File in Use, Cannot Save.” I would test it out first before taking my word for it.
Don’t know your situation, but there is something to be said for having all the project files on the same shared storage.

Not sure what’s happening. What if you import that PAL media into a new project and new sequence. Do you have the same problem?

Final Cut is not the right tool for mixing film and video frame rates because it doesn’t add 3:2 footage when editing 23.98 footage in a 59.94i sequence.
You can do what Jeremy suggests and captuire it all at 59.94i, but every edit you make in the film footage is going to cause a cadence break. This will translate into nasty interlacing artifacts when someone sees this on the web or on most HDTV sets. Honestly, it’s not pretty.
Alternatively you can capture it at 23.98 and edit in the 59.94i sequence. Final Cut adds 2:2:2:4 progressive pulldown. Motion might look a little jerky, but there won’t be any interlacing artifacts.
Neither option is ideal, which is why I said FCP is the wrong tool for this. Not sure what the latest versions of Avid or Adobe Premiere can do, but if it were me I would look into it.

Copy and paste the clips to a 25 timeline. You can’t change the frame rate of a current timeline.

How does vstor work exactly? I’m intrigued that there is no client software, and no SAN software. Is it just a high-performance NAS? Do you connect to it using “Command-K?”
