I just spoke with their encoding guy. They said it’ll be 29.97. But that progressive scan DVD players will reverse telecine the video. The company is CinRam.

thanks. Sorry, I was just saying 24p as a shorthand for 23.976.

So, do I need to make sure frames are flagged when the DigiBeta is made. Or would the encoding hardware pick up on the cadence?

Duh. Under the time pressure and lack of sleep, I was dragging my sequence over and over again to INSERT, not Assemble. I dragged it to Assemble and all is well! THANKS!

Yeah, never had a problem with Kona and BM before. My main issue was converting from HD to NTSC & PAL using the Apple 10bit Uncompressed codec (which is pretty much the BM codec with Apple’s name on it).

I’m about to try down rezzing from KONA 1080p to BM NTSC. We’ll see what happens.

    I’m using QT 7.2 now.

hmmm? if the Kona card can do so much, maybe I should take to a place with a Kona card.

I notice that when I downconvert with Compressor from my HD sequence to NTSC and PAL that things that were highlights broadcast safe before can have some slight clipping. will the Kona card handle this better?

    thanks for the advice!

What about resizing? Letterbox, anamorphic, full frame. And the PAL frame size?

BM doing the pull down. Can I do an accurate Edit to Tape that way?

    Hey Matthew,
Glad you liked it. That was Sandow Birk’s artwork. He’s one of my film partners. His “Depravities of War” exhibit is traveling now (paintings and 4×8 foot wood block prints). Then our other partner is Paul Zaloom (he’s Beakman!). It was fun taking the film around the fests last year. Yeah, the Mesa center got a sneak peek of the film. I’ll be finishing up the domestic deal as soon as my lawyer gets back from Park City. Hopefully by May or June it’ll be out on DVD. Not booking any screenings till I get a DVD release date nailed down.

But they’ll be no DVD if I can’t get these dang tapes mastered. Deliverables Lists aren’t good for my health and well being.

    best,
    sean
