    Thanks Tony,
I have googled the program you mentioned and other search terms and come up with nothing. Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

The camera does run much hotter. I just came back from shooting in Uganda. The temperatures sometimes reached 90-100 degrees and even though the camera got hot I had no problems. I hope this helps.

February 27, 2006 at 7:40 pm in reply to: Varicam Project Work Flow? Downconvert or more drive space

    Hi David,
Thanks for the advice. The reason we were thinkign of downconverting is to have our entire project digitized–over 80 hours. But I agree with you it is best to work in DVC-PRO HD. If I do this I have to purchase some more drives. Since this is an indie doc we are low on money. Do you ha ve any recoemdations. I was goign to purchase additional G-Raid firewire 800 drives. Also do you think firewire in will be ok or would you recomend I get a Kona card and go SDI in.

    Any advice would be appreciated,

    Hi Jamie,
Be sure to buy Goodmans Guide to teh Varicam. Also I think some people can get wrapped up in all the settings. if you are color correcting keep it simple. Abel Cinetch has some good settings they could e-mail you.
I like to shoot on Cine Gamma mode even for TV–I like the way the darks look, more film like. Some advice on low light: if it’s gettign to dark switch to video mode. Also turn off your shutter for shots with little movement. Also do not go past 6db of gain and I do not like to shoot -3db either. Other than that dive in head first and enjoy. Let me know if you have any other questions.
