    Thank you! You know your stuff. Is there an easier way to calculate the comp duration? For example, if my video clip is 05:19 (5 seconds:19 frames) long at 23.976 fps, then is there a handy way to calculate what the comp should be if I want to quadruple it? The extra frames on most clips make precise calculation tricky, when there are varying frame rates per second.

    Thanks. You were right. The footage was 720×480, even though it was “squeezed” down to 4:3 in a 640×480 composition. So I made the solid 640×480 too. But in fact the solid needed to be 720×480, just like the footage.
