Ahhh, I see. I guess what determines the specs is what I chose when I fire up FCP? I was used to iMovie and throwing any old avi files into it. Scrubbing etc was much easier in iMovie too.

Works like a charm, thanks Tom. So it looks like any video clip I bring into the browser and place in the timeline,has to be rendered first before working on it? As in adding voice overs etc.

Thanks Tom, I tried the manual but still cant see the video as I am narrating. The recording works perfectly but I need to see the video rolling while I narrate. The clip is in the timeline with in and out points and the movie is in the Canvas window. As soon as I hit record, the Canvas image goes to “unrendered”
