    why the heck does
    myadd02.blendingMode = blendingMode.ADD;
    work, but
    myadd02.trackMatteType = trackMatteType.ALPHA;
    say that trackMatteType is undefined??

    AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

    if you search the archives for wiggle and ease you’ll hit plenty of results that show you how to do it.

    ahhhhh i see. i had the layer selected, didn’t work. selected the expression, didn’t work. heh.

    now, shouldn’t it create a keyframe at extremes of motion, not every single damn frame? there’s no point converting to keyframes and applying an easy ease if every frame of the motion is keyframed. must i delete all the keys i don’t want manually??

    thanks jeff, i started thinking i’d go with the first method last night. the reason i tossing up between the two is so all my comps would inherit the dimensions/frame rate/duration of my original piece of footage, but now i know i can make them inherit using either methodology.
    thanks again!

  • i’m thinking it involves a sin or a cos with a limit, but the reverse-direction-loop is still stumping me.
    as i started learning expressions last week perhaps i’m in over my head already – i’m certainly not yet aware of all the key words and properties specific to after effects, and i admit this may be part of my problem. 🙂

    okay, so i eye-matched, using combinations of solids and colourising filters (hue-satch etc), and then just plonked them on top of my comps. works great. :

    Thanks guys.

    I do have Magic Bullet, just not at my current place of employment, and they won’t fork out the dough necessary for it (as they don’t really think it’s a necessary piece of software).
    So rather than spending a lot of time trying to emulate film processing modes, I just wanted to quickly whip up some nice grades using a combination of effects. Right now, I don’t really care what the filmic process is, I just want to match to look of a few certain MB grades. Though I understand that knowing the physical process would help me reverse engineer a look, I figure I can also do a good job of eye-matching to a sample frame from MB without knowing exactly what chemicals in which order are used by the film lab. 🙂

    Thanks anyway!
    Scott.
