Glenn, I am not set to show handles on my clips. I don’t think that’s the issue.

Joseph, Unfortunately, I am very new to Resolve. I’m not familiar with tool disclosure dialogue – looked it up in the manual and didn’t see anything with that name. The dissolves from the Avid-imported AAF show up graphically in the timeline. There were two film-style dissolves that Resolve said it couldn’t translate, but these are not them (also Resolve said it would replace those with regular dissolves anyways).

I was reluctant to go removing dissolves in the edit page, because I am very unfamiliar with the edit section, but might dive in and give it a try.

I don’t know what “mixdown mode” is – again – looked it up in the manual and found nothing.

I’ll let you know if I figure out what’s going on.

You were right about the monitor. When I hooked up my dreamcolor, via mini monitor, the image started playing at a reasonably okay speed – more the sort of thing I’d expect. For some reason, on the laptop alone the image plays at very weird speeds and the external monitor brings it under control. I’m not sure why NLEs can play footage at proper speed but compositing programs, like After Effects and some grading programs, like this can’t. Is it that it’s too expensive to program them to have this functionality? Having to buy a new $4000 lap top every couple years is crazy.

I know this is a very old thread, but I have a question regarding Josh’s quote:

Are you actually able to get Avid FX to work in the Resolve timeline? I get a message that it’s not supported. I have a documentary with simple animations done on stills in Avid Effects (there was a bug in Avid that made animations done with the pan and zoom effect blurry). Resolve will not see the Avid FX. Does this contradict your experience? Thanks.

Thanks. So, basically, in a nutshell, the workflow is this: you bring a new AAF into Resolve (of the new edit from Avid). Then you compare it to the original graded timeline with Color Trace. You automatically apply the grades to the new timeline from the old. That’s it?
