My personal FB is closed off except to my small friends list and I keep the content pretty PG. If FB was around when I was 19 it would probably be a different story lol

If you are not the business owner, then this is the way it should be, as long as there is a “please contact so and so in my absense” in the autoresponder then you should be fine, that way the client isn’t left in the cold.
I let regular clients know when I will be away since I am a one-man show most of the time.

“I dont have musch experience in the area of photography and video but I have the money and experience in events management.”
2 totally different disciplines.
Before you sink a bunch of money into buying high-end equipment that will be obsolete in a few years, for your first few productions rent the camera and get established. Don’t do the shooting yourself if you don’t know what you are doing, hire professionals. You run the company, and hire other people to do the labor.
The Z7 is a good camera but I would not call it high-end, if you are looking to be a rental place you might want to go with an XDCAM HD or what is currently being used in your area.
Call around to other rental houses in your area to find out what they use.

I have not done it but by most of what I read about other peoples experiences it is very difficult to make it worthwhile.

Consider diversifying and moving towards creating your own intellectual property; films, documentaries, training videos, mobile apps etc. This is exactly what I am starting to do, working on my first documentary (pickacardfilm.com) and starting to develop some iPhone Apps. If there is no corporate coming in then this is something to think about, using your skills to create some passive income.
Check out this blog for ideas on creating passive income on the net.
