Thanks for the response, but that is a bummer and doesn’t make any sense to me. So many of the tutorials use Keylight and you’d think Adobe would want you to see what the full product can do. Very stange.

Sorry for the delay, but thanks again for the help! Sounds like a pretty good guideline to go by and I appreciate it very much.
I was wodering though, in exporting a cuts-only (no rendering) sequence out of FCP for use in AE I would have thought there would be recompression. Is there not? Also, when I used Vegas I could have sworn there was some theory about exporting uncompressed if you’re going to to do keying, but that never made any sense to me. Kind of a getting something from nothing kind of thing.

Thank you very much, Steve! Yes, that did work, exactly as you said it would. The only thing I’m wondering now is, should you output from FCP or AE (or both) as uncompressed rather than using the DVC Pro HD codec? When I used to use a PC, it was the only way that seemed to work right when moving from DV25 to AE and back again.

Sorry, I keep trying different setting but am getting nowhere. You would think this would be a fairly simple thing to do. Please someone help me out!

WOW!! I just wanted to say thank you very much for taking the time to write that all out. I think I have a much better understanding of what you’re talking about now. Seems logical.
But, I haven’t even had a chance to get in there and get my hands dirty (won’t have the footage for another few days), so I hope you don’t if I check back for a little clarification or help along the way!

Thank you both for the help and suggestions. I’m a little confused though when y’all talk about adding an “expression” and how best to match the planes. Are y’all talking about possibly adding a very slight movement of the new sky in the z plane?

“…a full restoration and creative color correction course.” That would be really cool as well. I just mentione Red as it was the first compositor I ever learned how to use with away proficiency. There’s a shorter training DVD, but I like the 7 disk spend a week on it version to really get to know all the in and outs.
