I’m guessing this is just how 4:3 televisions are interpreting the footage then?

    Ah, my mistake.
I don’t have any experience with live technology, the only thing I could find from a quick scout around the net was a Videonics Mixer but I’m not sure if that’s budgetable.

    Hey Jordan,
I posted this is another thread yesterday – Might be of help:

    Hey Alex,
Not sure if restarting fixed your problem or not, but came across this on the internet – Basically some third party applications you can use to temporarily disable DirectX plugins that may be causing Vegas to crash on startup:

    Managing DirectX plug-ins

DirectX plug-ins are registered and have specific path locations written to the registry. For this reason, you should manage DirectX plug-ins using a third-party plug-in manager application. Use one of the plug-in managers listed below to turn off DirectX plug-ins which fail to initialize, or which cause Adobe Audition to freeze at startup. For detailed instructions on how to use the plug-in manager refer to the website listed below and the program’s user guide.

    Third-party plug-in management software

    DXMan (DirectX plug-in manager)

    VB Plugman (DirectX plug-in manager)

    Hey Steve,
The first film I ever made used a makeshift greenscreen, all we did was buy some MDF from a local supplier and then painted it with a few coats of the brightest green we could find at the paint mixing desk (Why someone would want to paint a room in their house such a colour I’ll never know, but it was lucky for us).

Just light it evenly, eliminate shadows and the Sony Chroma Key FX should remove “the green” fine. You can then just find or shoot your own newsroom-esque scene to drop onto the track underneath the newsdesk.

    Good luck with it,

    Hey Mike,
Thanks for the reply, my first instinct was to check with the grid if everything was in the correct place and sadly it was – Would have been nice if it was simple fix.

Unfortunately every 4:3 set I’ve tried the DVD on has played it like this, however, I did come across a “Panoramic 16:9” television that played it perfectly, so it looks like it is the way that 4:3 DVD Players are trying to letterbox the DVD to play it anamorphically (As the footage is 16:9).

Is there are way I can overcome this with a different render setting?
I have tried many but have had no luck so far, I just find it such an odd problem seeing as it is pretty much guaranteed to occur on a 4:3 set. I can’t just crop the video to 4:3 either as the footage has to be widescreen to see everything in the frame.

    Any further ideas appreciated,

September 4, 2008 at 12:14 am in reply to: Rendering Issues – Is my video length too long??

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I’m unaware of any restriction on how long a film can be in Vegas, perhaps the “Render Loop Region Only” box has been left checked under your render settings?

I find that I sometimes leave it checked accidentally.
    Just a thought anyway.
