This sounds pretty spot on. I have seen it done with nature as well with waves actually – so that makes sense that the movement is still smooth:

Is it possible to achieve fast motion without frame blending in FCP?
Are there any notable digital cameras that shoot at 12 or 8 fps allowing longer exposure times?
