I’m learning a lot about encoding large files- but I still haven’t cracked this nut. While trying to make H264 1920 x 1080 outputs of my 2K material, my system can handle a sequence less than 7 minutes, but we get a file error every time we try for something longer- especially if there are a lot of cuts and fx. Any solutions? Is it a RAM, BIT rate, or another problem? Thanks for any help.

Thanks, Joe- I tried that- but I think my problem was several clips coming off of a drive designated as FAT. I copied that media over to a friendlier drive, manually re-cut those shots back into my system, and was at least able to make a complete 20 minute 1920 x 1080 Quicktime which suited my needs. I may be back though for more help!

Thanks, Ivan- that’s probably what I have to do. I was hoping there was some way to avoid this extra step with every new edit I make. This could mean me doing this a million times. I guess there’s no way to avoid this when cutting 4K material in a 2K timeline, unless I guess you make proxies from all your original camera files (ideally from the outset). Does that make sense?
