Thanks for all your great input. It has been very useful. Today I had a quick tutorial in DVD Studio Pro (which should come with the FCP 5.1 package I’m told) and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to burn the sort of project I am doing. The quality is better and I had more control over my final outcome (I am burning as we speak). If it’s of help to others that might read this thread, I used Compressor to output from FCP (MPeg2) and then formatted, built and burned in Studio Pro. I now have the discs I need for the show opening in London tomorrow. Wish me luck…. and thanks again…. Sam

thanks, yes you are right about the final viewing outcome, I am going to try running my movie straight from laptop to plasma screen using the RS232 connection. I am seeking help re Dvd Studio Pro as the next prong in my attack. I cannot use iDVD because I need the video to be put in and play straight away, and then loop continuously. I’ll let you know how I get on… my resolution may help others… Sam

Thank you Craig for taking the time to be so thorough and helpful. Point taken about skill versus time, and yes, there was a lot of compression going on! My source from iMovie was.dv, I exported full quality into QT, then into FCP, and back again in to QT (no sound). However on my laptop screen, and when projected large (4 foot plus) via a data projector, there seems to be no ill effect. It is only when it goes onto a DVD that I notice degradation (slight on my laptop screen), more obvious via a dvd player to TV, hence my suspicion re the DVD transfer process. I doubt you can add more to what you have already stated – I will contitnue to persevere… no sleep til Wednesday… Sam
