[Matte] “Color-corrector filter, Broadcast Safe filter, and an experienced producer and director of photography.”

Okay, so there’s the getting the reds down, and then there’s the flat, pixellized look that remains because of a loss of resolution when you’re peaking in that color. It’s like we need just a little bit of automated blurring in those “hot” regions. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Broadcast Safe does that. Is there something that will, or some other ingenious approach that will help with the second part?

Unforutnately, the original camera is unavailable at this point. From the kind of damage there was, I don’t believe that would make a tremendous difference – then again, we’re talking about a much more subtle level of damage anyway…

For one, someone walks in front of the camera and the movement looks like someone in a room with a strobe light.

    The source is on MiniDV.

This is being aimed at festivals, so it will vary – DVD or DigiBeta for most. Or blow it up to film if we get into something big.

It’s supposed to be whatever’s standard on a dvx100 in 24p. I’m not sure exactly what was shot, but it’s clearly a pretty fast setting, and really obvious for any large motion. This was a pickup day and I think some of the shots may work without much tweaking, but others are hard are hard to be optimistic about.

Thanks so much, we really appreciate it, especially since we’re running up against a deadline this week. We get access again to the editing system tonight (long story) so hopefully we’ll be able figure it out then. Any chance you (or someone) will be around for questions/clarifications then?

All we see there are ranges from 0-100. Is there a preference somewhere that changes the units those sliders “count” in?

    Thanks for writing.

We’re a little unclear where in the motion tab you’re referring to. Sorry if this is vague, I’m relaying from our editing people and can’t see the screen at all.

We are moving into the wide screen filter dropdown, double clicking in the viewfinder, going to the offset and using the slidebar to select -100 to 100. Are these the numbers you are referring to, or is there someplace else we should be looking?
