  • I understand setting a reference level going out to a deck, but what about burning DVD’s?

If you are burning a DVD straight from your Final Cut machine do you raise the levels up to -3 peak.

    THANKS,

  • I’ve had the problem too. What worries me is that if render files aren’t updating, then how do you know you’re watching the most current changes. ie You’re going to notice a deleted clip popping up, but how do you know there isn’t a more subtle filter that you deleted still on a clip. And then when you go to create a movie, is it in the final product?

Is the safe advice to delete all render files before creating any movies?

I think your problem was my problem. Trash your quicktime and reinstall. It worked for me. It’s fast, free and requires a restart.

  • Reinstalling Quicktime worked for me, it’s free and is pretty quick to do… does require a restart.

I had the same prob yesterday, did a search and found this:

    Final Cut won’t open.
    1) Trash your preferences by going to User>Library>Preferences>Final Cut Pro User Data>Final Cut Pro 5.0 Prefs. Go ahead and trash the other 2 files too. (Obj cache, Prof cache) See if that helps. FCP will re-create these files when you open the application if they are not in that folder, so it is an effective way to “re-start” to “factory” settings.

Regarding the posted apple document. Is there a way to reinstall Quicktime Pro without paying for it? Even though I already own a copy, I assume when I trash it and reinstall I will be asked to pay again? Thanks,
