  • If you cant afford the GH4 Id suggest getting a GH3 or even a GH2

I currently have a GH2, that I patched to run at 150gbs instead of the in box 60gbs. At the patched rate in pulls 1G of data a minute. Crazy fast! I bought it about 5yrs ago and its still going strong.

I paid $150 US for a Rode Run and gun shotgun mic at B&H photovideo.com

As far as inexpensive and tested monitors, rigs, mics and tips to make your productions look professional check out the Flim Riot youtube channel

    Jeff,

Thanks for quickly bringing me up to speed. It’s learning new hard/software systems and trying to trouble shoot can be tough. I appreciate your help! Have a great week!

Thank you for the tips. I’ll look into to Cineform.

Due to lack of funds (spent most on HD equipment) what would you suggest is the best use of my money?

    I’m planning an upgrade to CS5.5 ($500)
    RAM from 4G to 16G (cost $90)
    a faster drive (cost $190)

I can afford these upgrades right away but will any of it help given the limitations of the graphics card?

  • I recently hacked my GH2 with the help of Orlando Osgondar site. Full instructions and concise explanation walks you through the steps.

He has created a guide (no cost) donations encouraged.

Since I had a Mac, so asked a few questions (See blog posts burntoutideas) he knows his stuff. Read all the posts for the hack and the guide before asking questions as it seems many are repeated since this is new to most of us.

I ended up loading the 176mbs ‘seAQuake’ with no issues. I’m extremely happy with the results. Everything looks great in camera, unfortunately I’m using CS4.2 and the only way view the footage in Premier is through the Stream folder.

Still trying to figure out a workflow that lets me keep the footage after I remove the card. Thats my novice experience with Premier and possibly the limitations of CS4 if anyone has advice please let me know.

    Hey Curtis,

Thanks for your feedback…I have discussed the social network…solution issue. It is the infrastructural base that is needed it’s not really going to be a social networking site.

I came across a packaged solution (NING)- that seems like it might work although bandwidth may eventually be a problem as they max at 200GB w/ only 20GB storage.

    I will check into phpbb.

    Thanks again
