Hi Jeff, thanks. Yeah I did this in the early days, but over 900 elements at half way stage really slowed project opening time down, and strained my CPU. I organised my assets into bins, this made it easier to find stuff but it was so slow to work.

So, am I right that match export settings is still lossy? I was hoping to literally ‘match’ the sequence settings with no quality loss.

Not that I’ve lost much, my final output is HDV 1280×720 so I’ve scaled down a step. Or was this a bad move?

Hello, sorry to revive this, but I’m a little curious about this myself. Please let me explain my workflow.

I have just completed my first short film. Using Canon HV30, edited using the HDV1080p25 sequence preset. I had 17 scenes which got a little complicated for one Premiere project, so each scene was edited in it’s own project file. Each scene was then exported with Match Sequence Settings ticked, and this gave me a Master mpeg, which when all 17 were completed got placed into a new project which made up the final film. Music was added here, along with any other sound effects, and then this was then exported as h.264 for web delivery.

However, I have been curious that the Match Sequence Settings in the Export dialogue box all quality settings are greyed out and Quality is set at 50. Why is this not set to 100 by default? Surely 50 is losing me 50% of quality in the export? Or does this setting just ‘merge’ all my trimmed clips into a new single version of the same file, with all bit rates and data rates as they would be for each clip, as if straight out the camera?

Or am I completely wrong?
