My goal is also to record the PS3 at 1080 using component cables. As mentioned elsewhere on this forum, capturing from a PS3 using component cables to a Blackmagic Pro does not work with HDMI (unless you are a developer and have an expensive dev kit), only component (and I’m assuming composite, not that you’d want to do that). I have a support ticket out right now where a support tech tells me that 1080i through composite will work, but so far I’ve been unable to make anything but regular low-res NTSC work.
